Cold Laser Therapy and Pain Relief

What is Cold Laser Therapy or Low Level Laser Therapy (LLT)?

Cold Laser Therapy or Low Level Laser Therapy (LLLT) is a non-intrusive, non-toxic and painless alternative to surgery, some medications and acupuncture. Cold Laser treatment assists the healing process by transferring pulsed wavelengths of light into pain affected areas that interact and stimulate the damaged tissue to repair itself.

How long has Cold Laser Therapy been around for?

Cold Laser Therapy has been clinically used for over 40 years, originally cold laser therapy was used by the Russian Cosmonauts to fast track the healing of soft tissue injuries sustained during take off and landing.

Albert Einstein conceived the theory of light, Light Amplification through Stimulated Emission of Radiation or LASER in 1916. In the 1960’s, Hungarian physician and surgeon, Professor Endre Mester began using low-power laser light as a medical treatment. Professor Mester stumbled across the biological effects of laser by complete accident. In 1967 he carried out an experiment to treat tumors using laser light. Although the experiment wasn’t successful in removing tumors it did successfully regrow hair and increase the speed of the healing of wounds on mice.

Since then, laser therapy has evolved into an alternative medical treatment; cold laser therapy for a wide variety of pain conditions. The non-invasive therapy has provided our patients with pain relief without side-effects.

Russian Cosmonauts were among the first to use Cold Laser Therapy in the 1960's
The first Russian Spaceship Monument in Russia – Russian Cosmonauts used Cold Laser Therapy to speed up the healing of soft tissue injuries.
